I want to load some rounds which will be used in a few different AR-10s, none of them target rifles. My main concern is reliability. I'm looking for recommendations of components (what bullet and weight?), power, and powder quantity. Any other thoughts are welcome.

Also, is any brass preferable, or does it make much difference as long as the prep is adequate?

42.6 grains of 4895 behind 150 grain bullet works well with my Armalite AR-10 original-unsure of performance in new AR-10 knock-offs

44.0 varget pushing hornady 150 sp (because I have a bunch of them) works great via a DPMS LR-308....I am pretty sure its 44...or is it 45. I would have to check my little book.

The key to getting a load to work in any semi-auto you put it in is proper resizing of the brass.

You need to get a L.E. Wilson or Dillon .308 case gage and use it, not only when setting up the sizing die, but to chamber check every loaded round in it.

If they fit, they will work as well as GI or commercial ammo in any rifle, assuming you use enough powder to cycle the action.

I typically grap a Winchester round and measure the case OAL, neck size, etc. and try to deplicate that round for reliability. I also check that data against my reloading books. Typically, my self defense ammo is made to manufacturer's spec and then run in my gun of course for a check see.
