I have not owned any AR type rifles up to now. My interest was always bolt action rifles such as mausers, 1903 springfield, remington 700 etc. Now I own a rock river 308 and Aero precision 308 and 6.5 creedmore. Seems that my standard RCBS dies worked fine with these AR 10s but now I see that RCBS makes dies specific towards AR type rifles. Anyone use these AR dies and are they worth buying?

Call RCBS and ask them if these new dies are small base dies. That's the only difference I can see with dies made just for AR rifles. As others have said, if your present dies are working, you're done. Your rifle's chamber doesn't need small base dies.

That's all they are. Just SB FL sizing dies.

@Mogas If your regular FL sizing dies are feeding in your rifles fine as it is, using an SB die won't make them any more reliable, but will work the brass more, which may lead to shorter case life.

I have not had a problem with using standard dies up till this point with my ar15s but i am building an ar15 in 6arc and ar10 in 308 with a target bbl so time will tell with the latter. The rcbs dies are small base dies.If you have std full length just try them and see .

Thanks everyone for your answers. As I said, these are my first AR style weapons I own. I did use a M16 a lot in in the "60's" and have not touched a AR ever since. Now that I have attained three of the darn things I hope you will help me with answers to Reloading and scope mounting. 1st. Do I have to keep my 308 reloads low in pressure to protect the Gas operating system (like my M1 Garand). I use the RCBS reloading guide for reload data and like to be 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 grains under the max shown in this book depending on the accuracy. 2nd. When mounting my scope (leupold 1X4 power) do you suggest mounting so the eye piece is forward of the charging handle or just use higher mounts? 3rd. Does anyone know what brand mags Rock river uses. The one that came with the weapon is some kind of plastic composite and huge compared the steel mag I bought for my Aero precision AR 308 .

If you have an adjustable gas block you can load to any level you want. You ejection should be 3:00-4:30. All of mine are what ever gave me the best accuracy. In most cases toward the max if not at max. If the brass is going forward the bolt needs to be slowed down. Either by heavier buffer or adj gas block. Mount the scope so it's comfortable for you. All of mine are set to the natural eye relief needed by the scope, and cheek weld position.

If you didn't already have dies that worked? Yes, I imagine the sizer is tighter, probably small base like their .223 AR dies, which won't hurt a thing, and the .223 AR dies have a taper crimp feature if you want to use it, not sure about their .308 dies.

But what you have is working, so................
