I have a Rock River AR lower and was looking at getting a .22 upper for some cheap shooting. I know people recommend the Spike's upper, but I don't feel like spending that much for a .22........I found a company called Velocity Firearms that makes a .22 upper for cheap. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of them and if they are any good. Here is a link:

Thanks,

I do not have an upper right now. I just went to the local dealer to get a lower while I still can...........

If I didn't have any upper for my AR, but had a complete lower as you do, and if $$ are a major concern, I would go another $80 and get this : http://www.model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=USE200&storeid=1&image=ustd20.gif
w/ a bolt carrier group. Not the highest quality, but gets the job done. I wouldn't advise you to spend almost as much and end up with only a AR 22LR. I realize 22LR are dirt cheap to shoot, but sooner or later you're gonna want that AR to be an AR. I would get the whole AR first and then worry about accessories.
Just my .02

I think you get what you pay for. And with a .22 upper, there's a lot that can go wrong. Do you want to save $100 and spend half your time at the range clearing jams?

One of the first lessons I learned about buying firearms is that I either have the $ to do it right, or I don't do it at all. I learned this after I bought 2-3 'cheap' guns, spent time and $ trying to get them to work right, and ended up selling them for less than I paid for and buying the 'right' gun.

Spend the $600 and get the Spike upper and a couple Black Dog mags - it'll be worth it in the long run.

This man speaks very wisely! :)
