Are "furniture" parts interchangeable between the two?

Looks as if the handguards, stock and pistol grip are should be identical, but...

The barrel diameter could be an issue depending, on the design of the handguards. Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks, Rich

I think I have seen seperate handguards sold for the two of them, but don't take that as scripture.

I think that if you get one of those quad-rail forends that clip onto the barrel that may work with both.

The SR-25 is pretty much an AR-10, the M16A4 is pretty much the result of the AR-15. The SR-25 looks like a normal M16 from about 50' away, but she's so much bigger when you hold it, the Rail System is bigger, the stock is bigger and the upper/lower & barrel are bigger. I don't think anything is interchangeable!

I'll ask the armory or just pull one out next week, good question?

Attached is the SR-25 w/o can

Handguards are different, but pistol grips and stocks are the same.

The buffer spring and buffer are different too, so you cannot put a complete AR-15 stock assembly (with spring and buffer) on a 308 AR and expect it to work.

The adjustable cheekpiece on the 308 Magpul PRS stock is different to account for the longer charging handle of the 308 ARs.
