I have a Bushmaster Carbon 15 that I'm trying to put a free float front end on and I have to use the barrel nut that comes with the receiver. I have seen a few but they are usually just as expensive as a complete new upper- I would like to find one under $200. Is that at all possible?

It's possible. The expensive ones are going to be free float. The cheaper ones are going to be two piece drop ins.

You'll probably find that the Midwest Industries rails are a pretty good value.

Thanks! I should probably note that I'm talking free float, if it isn't I might as well keep the stock handguards.

Daniel Defense makes the Lite Rail that attaches to the standard barrel nut, but it is above your requisite price range.

If you are going to go FREE FLOAT you're going to have to take off the Front Sight Gas block. If you're doing that anyway, then go ahead and get one that replaces the barrel nut. You can get the YHM for about $150. You just need their tool.

Well, it looks like I'll be able to put that DD with a few minor mods (have to cut the original barrel nut down to the same size as the new one, and widen the neck on the rear attachment to fit over the larger-than-normal threads for the barrel nut). I'll post pics when I'm done.
