I tried to ask this on the AR-15 site but they will not let me register with my gmail email address. I'm looking for a clamp on type flash suppressor. I have two post ban Bushmasters and don't want to thread the barrels if I don't have to. Anyone know where a slip on & clamp tight type suppressor can be bought?

Bushmaster makes a "slip on that is "pinned" in place. They claim it requires factory installation, a hole has to be drilled in the barrel for the pin. Long waiting list and shipping the barrel isn't what I want to do.

if it was threaded after the finish was put on it then fine. Cutting new threads thru the "parkerized" type finish doesn't excite me too much.

Let me make a prediction:

Any 'clamp-on' flash suppressor you find is going to be launched downrange. Maybe not on the 1st mag, but before the first 1k rounds is gone for sure.

Get the barrel threaded. If it really bugs you get the barrel re-parkerized afterwards. BSW

Having the barrel threaded by a competent smith is not going to hurt your finish on the barrel. Once the flash suppressor is on you shouldn't have any metal in the white showing.

Good luck.

After the AWB ban sunset in '04, I tried a bolt-on suppressor for my pre-ban barrel. It was awful. Very, very awful. It would not stay in place and eventually scraped up the end of the barrel. At the time, there was a guy on GunBroker who'd thread your pre-ban barrel and install a regular flash suppressor for about $50, so that's what I did. No regrets on that one.
