Have a BCM low-pro gas block and had to drill a set screw out. Appears to be 8-40 but not sure. Anyone know? Or know where I can buy the set screws? Hardware stores seem to be all 8-32.

I don't know what thread they are.

But Houston is a very big city.
There should be almost no end of industrial supply companies there that stock every size Allen-Head screw ever made.

Check the yellow pages, and take the gas block with you to try it on for size.

BCM Low Profile Gas Block for AR15, M16, M4, M4A1. Machined of steel, phosphate finish, for .750 barrels.
Manufactured within very tight Mil-Spec tolerances on all ID's.
Barrel ID honed after finish per USGI TDP.
Made by Bravo Company MFG, Inc. with set screw mounting.
Set Screws are Steel 10-32 x 3/16 Knurled Cup Point

You want 10-32 screws 3/16 Long. You should be able to find them just about anywhere. That gas block is a set screw design. McMaster Carr has them at about $11 per hundred (life supply with a few left over) Just make sure you get the Knurled Point Cup design.

Thanks everyone. I went to Home Depot and picked up a 10-32 drill/tap on my way home. Job is done. I used a stainless cup tip setscrew along with the knurled cup tip originally included with the gas block. Some blue loctite and here we go.

In the business I work in we will sometimes use cup tip set screws to act as a strongback to prevent axial separation of defective pipe/equipment welds. Typically on systems that have low thrust loads. The cup tips are used to "bite" into the pipe to prevent movement.

Anyway, I think it'll do!
