In the late 1980's someone developed and marketed a conversion for the gas system of the AR-15 rifle.

It had a replacement/modified front sight assy with a piston system and a front adjustment screw. This pushed an operating rod which replaced the gas tube . The operating rod acted against a modified bolt carrier key that had a rubber cushioning insert in the front section of it.

I am looking for information as to this system, the name of the company, and wether they are still in business - also parts availability.

I dunno about such a thing in the 1980s...but you do know that they are all the rage right now, yes?

Oh, wait. You're talking about a conversion for an existing upper, not a replacement, piston-driven upper?

That's correct Mike. I'm looking for a couple parts for this conversion system. My memory will not bring up the name and apparently it did not go over well enough to stay in business as I have found nothing current . Yes, I am aware of the current piston uppers.

Thank You Mr. Two Guns , I do believe you found it. Even the name rings a bell now ( course don't take much to ring my bell ! )

It looks like one will have to either make ones own replacement parts or change to a different system. I think they are long gone as far as I can tell.
