Does anyone make drop in hand guards that are more sturdy than the GI ones. I like the railed handguards but I don't wont to add 1 pound to the front of my rifle. All the ones I have seen are Heavy or they are free floats. I like the yankee hill Customizable Free Float Forearm System but I wish it was made in 2 parts so it could drop in.

I like those its just every one I have seen weighs over 1 pound, I am looking for some light weight, Less than 10 oz. They don't have to have rails I can attach them my self I just don't wont to hang a all that weight off the end of my rifle. I have rails attached to my GI hand guards but I wont something moor sturdy to hang my Light off of.

Those are light but I was kind of looking for a 2 piece ,not a free float but I guess no one makes them.

You ought to look at the Surefire two-piece handguards. They're a simple swap with your OEM handguards, and, because the bottom half keys into the barrel nut, they don't exhibit much play, if any. I weighed some of these (the M4/CAR size) at work the other day, and, IIRC, they weighed about the same as the stock handguards I weighed. Seems like they should be a perfect fit for you.
