i'm thinking of outfitting my target AR with one of these barrels (mainly because i want a 1/7 twist) so if i'm gonna put a new barrel on my target rifle it makes sense to go ahead and get a high quality one. any of you guys have any experience with these barrel manf?i like the shilen because you can get it with the bolt so you don't have to worry about headspacing. but if the krieger is the better of the 2 its no big deal to have my local gunsmith to check the headspacing, thanks in advance

pretty sure you can also get kriegers with a matching bolt
both are fine barrels

I upgraded to a Krieger on my AR-15 service rifle and have been quite pleased with it. Never used a Shilen barrel, but it's a respected name. I think that you'd be happy with either one. They will set you back a few bucks though!

If you want to save a few bucks, look at the Wilson barrels. They shoot very well and won't break the bank.

I have two service rifles and one match rifles with Krieger barrels.Really like them. They used to make a lower cost barrel as well, I think the name was Criterion. Not sure of the spelling.

i have barrels by both manufacturers (1 each, actually), and i like my krieger barrelled ar-15 better because that ar is more accurate than the other. but, the difference isn't much, and when i build my next ar (next 2-3 months), i won't lose any sleep at all if it is a shilen barrel.

both barrel makers put out good stuff, and you won't go wrong w/ either one.

I've got barrels from both manufacturers; both are very accurate and easy to clean. If I were selecting a new barrel and money was not an object, I would buy a Krieger. Why? Mostly because Krieger has been making service rifle barrels a lot longer than Shilen has. Shilen AR barrels are probably excellent barrels, but I know that Krieger will do it right.
