You got to love industrious people with possibly to much time on their hands.

Pretty neat, though I think one can get in some legal issues for creating the serialized portion like that.

Actually it's legal under federal law to build your own gun (which is what he is doing, legally). Might have issues if he sells it, might not, depending on the circumstances. I don't think you have to but if you sell a homemade gun, it's a good idea to put a serial number on it though.
