AR-15 modified to be California legal?

I went into my favorite gun store the other day and much to my suprise they had at least 6 ar15s for sale to the public. Now, I'm used to seeing the "california-style" ar-15s with the mag well welded closed, but these had unmodified mag wells with 10-round bushmaster mags in them. Apparently there's some kind of kit you can get to modify the magazine release so the mag is permanently affixed.

My question is this: If I was to buy one of these rifles, and later move with it to a state with more reasonable gun laws, could the modified magazine release be removed and replaced with an original so the rifle could use detachable mags?

What are these kits called? How do they install/uninstall?

Yes, you can modify your AR for your mags to detach quite easily. BTW the two most common kits are made by Sporting Conversions and Prince50

I would think that you could move the gun out of CA & modify it to release mags as long as the state you move to permitted such mods.
