I have an M3 light I bought for my Glock. I just realized that the picatinny rail Surefire and others sell for the AR-15 is not the same rail as the "universal" rail on the Glock. So who makes an easy-to-install rail for AR-15 that will accept the Insight M3 and M6?

GG&G

You are correct. You can force the light on the picatinny rail, but it won't fit on your Glock very well afterwards.

Or you could save yourself some money and time and invest in a Surefire..a few of my friends had M3's mounted on their AR's/SG's and had them fail after about 500 rounds of 5.56 and 150 rounds slugs.

Personally, my M3 failed after 300 rounds of Speer Gold Dots in 40 cal.

But that just me...:D

I already have a SureFire E2 light and like it, so I read up a little and it sounds like the new X200 would be ideal. It's a 65 lumen LED light, so I think it would be a little more durable on both the Glock and my long guns. But I don't even see it listed on the SureFire web site, let alone on G & R tactical. I guess I'm willing to spend some money on another weapons light, though I probably would get more use out of a scope or more ammo.

Has anyone seen the new E2 for sale? I did email G & R about this, and if they don't post another time I'll post their reply.

There is a short rail that fits my M3 & M6 that I have bought for one of my AR's that fastens in the cooling holes on the underside of handguard. I bought it on E-bay & believe was made by Surefire.

I just did a search on Ebay, there is one currently listed that ends in 3 days 18 hours, & the Item Number is 3645454226 for $12.50

Artherd,
What does THR think of the solidarity of the M6?

I wish both the M3 & M6 were lamped with a LED, but both are very bright with the current lamp.
It seems to be a well made unit, but I have heard of lamp failures after 300-500 rounds.

Is there a bettter compact laser/light out there?

I am not aware of any other compact lamp/lasers on the market! It would be nice if the new Surefire X200 had a Laser as a option, or if Insight/Streamlight would make the M6 with a LED Option! :D

Wait, Insight AND Glock have a non-picatinny rail?
Glock pioneered what's referred to as the "universal rail." The M3 and M6 are designed for the universal rail.

The other rail types I'm aware of are weaver, picatinny, and HK. I'm not sure what rail SIGs use, and someone told me that the XDs use a different rail, but I thought they had a universal rail.
