Any advice on aftermarket picatinny rails for my A2? Wanting to mount a laser and maybe a flashlight but don't want to replace handguards for one of the Leapers systems.

Well, no responses in several hours. Let me take a stab at it.

If I understand you correctly, you want some type of rail system that will allow mounting of a laser and/or flashlight.

You also want to retain your original, non-railed forearm.

Do you have any idea as to where you would prefer to have these rails?

Based upon what you have told us, I would thing that I barrel-mounted universal Tri-rail may work.

Look up Tickbitesupply.com and you can find them. I had a 3" on on an AK barrel a while back that worked well. The railed block mounts to your barrel with 4 screws. This may not be that great if you are worried about the affect of weight on your barrel, but it may not be a problem for you.

In addition, I *think* I saw a rail that attached through your Triangle Front Sight Base that will but a rail on either side of the Front Sight. But I can't remember for the life of me where I saw it. I think it may have been Bravo Company or Model 1 Sales.

I hope this helps.

I can't point you to it right now, but somebody makes a rail mount that simply slips on the bayonet lug. It would be fine for something light like a laser or small flashlight.

Cheaper than dirt has a wide selection of rails including a bayonet lug mount (type 54674 in item #) and a triangle front sight mount (49573 or 49577 or 37154 or ARR-031) in addition to others. My biggest problem at this point is sorting through the choices.
