AR-15 scope question...

Be aware that I also purchased a NC Star scope (different model) and it was a mistake. It refuses to hold zero on anything except a Model 60 .22 semi (even then it's iffy). For what you will spend on the scope +s/h, you might look at a Bushnell Trophy for just a bit more at Wally World. It may not be the greatest scope, but it will hold a zero on an AR.

NcStar sucks!

And at todays ammo prices, you can easily shoot up the price of a good scope while screwing around with a Chinese scope that won't track or hold zero.

well, Ive used the NStar about 3 times so far and I will say that it BLOWS! (I should have listened) but im stubborn...

What a piece of junk, the thing litterly fell apart after shooting the first time out, and it moves all over the place?

With Christmas right around the corner I need a good reccomendation for a carrly handle scope that holds A ZERO!

Preferably one that mounts SOLIDLY to the handle, and is easy to quickly bring up to the eye...

peck, glad you came back to this thread and updated your experience with the NC Star. I too had to learn the hard way many years ago about really cheap scopes, total waste of money.

I'll tell you what handle mount scopes I have used and like. My favorite is the Hakko Blue Ring. Hakko manufactured the handle mount scopes for Colt and the Blue Ring is an updated version. It's a BDC, 100-500 meters, illuminate reticle, 4X21 handle mount. You can find used and some times new old stock.

Second choice is the original Colt handle mount. It's a 4X21, 100-500 BDC, handle mount. Used is about the only recourse. Prices vary from $150 to $450 depending on appearances. They are pretty tough scopes so I bought a scared up one for my A2, it functions perfectly.

junk at any price is still junk

save for the Colt ( i have Mad's and an illuminated version )
the quality of the optics will please you for many years.

Is there any new scopes (in current production) that are good as well?

I'd recommend a trijicon TA-33 as the perfect scope for your quest, but ~$800 is going to be the lowest price you'll find! Best of luck, good optics are always worth the price.
