My old eyes learned a lesson today; Open sights suck. So, I'm looking to put a scope on my Win Ranger '94 post '64.

I've got the gun and a Tasco 3x9x40 scope. No rings. No mount. I look at the mounts and rings on Midway and I'm confused.

Do I need this http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=410124 and this http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=410124

Or, do I need the mount and this http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=340963

Also, do these mounts position the scope over the top of the receiver? I'm a lefty so, if the scope is off centered, it's not good for me.

The first two links are to the same base, but you can get it and then get their suggested rings it looks like. The second link shows a base and rings assembled, but the description makes it just sound like the rings you need, so I'm not sure that it comes with a base. It might be worth calling Midway to ask about before ordering.

I have a side mount i had on my WINCHESTER MODEL 94 Ser # 27XXXXX. I took it off to go back to irons. If you want it, PM me. I have pics.

By necessity, a side mount for a 94 Winchester will position the scope off center to the left to clear the top ejecting empty cases.
(Unless of course it's one of the newer "Angle-Eject" models.)

Perhaps your best alternative is a XS Sights Lever Scout mount and a long eye relief scope.
At least it will put the scope in the center of the sight line.

I have one on a Marlin 1894 with a Leupold handgun scope on it and I really really like it!

gotigers,

Thanks for the offer but I don't think it will work. Here's a pic of the side of the receiver. There's really nothing to screw a side mount to.

Yeah, but an angle eject will still put the brass across your face. The scope mount won't help much, but it might make sure it does no come back at you? If I were a left handed person, I'd be looking at a traditional 94 with XS irons.

Seeing that it's that receiver, you'd be much better off to trash those mounts from Amazon and buy a set of quality Weaver style mounts and a set of Burris Signature Zee rings. This setup will be much much better. I've used cheaper aluminum rings, but after using quality rings, there is no going back.
