I think SBS would be useless because the gun will not have a stock of any kind.
As soon as the shotgun is mounted to tha AR15, it'll have a stock.

It'll have to be papered as an SBS for this purpose.

^^Two things rub me the wrong way about that one. That AR mounting bracket puts it WAY underneath the rifle, I think that the rail to rail idea could get it a lot closer, and I would prefer to not get their short barrel, keep it over 18", to avoid as much of the paperwork as possible.

i dont see this as a stupid impractical idea

maybe he just wants a range toy he never said what the use was for just the legalities and steps involved in mounting it

not all of us that do wierd things are mall ninjas look at the remington 1740 (do a search)
there is no real need for that firearm other than the owners enjoyment and there is nothing mall ninja about that

If you want to build a AR/12ga, go for it, I'd love to shoot one. Yes, it will be heavy, so's my scoped and bi-podded M1A.

At one time someone made the hardware to attach a Rem870 to a AR, don't recall their name. Legal with an 18 inch barrel, or $200 stamp if you want to go with a short barrel. Don't let folks discourage you.

I have that setup on Call of Duty. Unfortunately, that's a video and this is real life. I'd buy a "heartbeat sensor" too, if I could, but it just ain't in the cards. Sounds pretty mall-ninja.

I'm guessing it would need the NFA registration. A shotgun has to have a barrel length of atleast 18" and an OAL ov 26" if I'm not mistaken.

Good point - though I like Boats's idea, it would probably need the $200 stamp (and have a castrated rifle barrel length), whereas the original shotgun under rifle idea requires only a $5 AOW stamp, and a shotgun barrel is not as hamstrung with a short bbl length.

Only if you buy it with the short barrel. Making an AOW requires a $200 stamp as well. Subsequent transfers are $5.
