I want to put together an ar 15. I was thinking of using stag arms receivers. Please tell me about the stag receivers. Also is there any other brand I could use that is in the same price range

For the most part, a forged lower is a forged lower. The diffeneces are only in what i think are minor cosmetic imperfections. There is a great tread on www.AR15.com about this very subject.

Pick the logo on the lower you like the best, I have a RRA.

Unless you pick some weird oddball brand the quality is pretty much in finish

Stag is the comercial brand of CMT that actually makes the forgeings for a big slice of the AR pie, regardless of the name that ends up on the finished piece. Stag is very much a top of the line kind of part. if you can find Stag parts at a decent price,go for it. I myself own Stag,Bushmaster,Rockriver. They have all been great for me.

I have a Doublestar lower sitting in front of me, and the finish and machine work looks great.

AIM Surplus has them for $99.95.

I can get the complete lower and upper on eaglefirearms.com. The upper is $510 with chrome lined barrel and carry handle and the lower is $310 with 6 position stock and 2 stage match grade trigger.

Are they even still in business? That disclaimer has been at the top of the page for quite some time now.

Stag is comparable to every other forged and anodized aluminum lower.

Good quality, as good as anything else.

Most forged anodized lowers are all comparable.

Lets see her when you get her done!!!!!! Mine started out as a build to save a little money, and to draw out the cost.

Needless to say I got anxious and finished it in 3 1/2 weeks!!!!!!

heres mine...

a stag lower, fitted RRA upper, RRA 2 stage national match trigger, white oak armament 1/7 SPR SS MATCH 18" barrel with vortec flash hider, ergo grip and mp tested bolt and carrier, with magpul windowed mags. fitted, a tasco varmite 6-24x42 varmite/target scope. should do the job quiet nice. ill be shooting it this weekend.

Although some say 820 is a great price... there are some that are lower in price with equal or better quality.

If you're going Stag, buy from here- http://ar15sa.fatcow.com/store/page2.html . Those are the cheapest you will find for new Stag uppers. Also, those prices include shipping.

He ships fast, and is a very reputable vendor.

Thanks 22_Shooter I would not have found this site if you would not have showed me. If I get a stag upper it will be fromhttp://ar15sa.fatcow.com/store/page2.html .

+1 on Anvil Arms. Great lowers and outstanding customer service. Not to mention free laser engraving!!

Make sure you have absolutely clear communication of what you want when you order your lower engraved at Anvil. They engraved the wrong thing on my receiver, and refused to cover any shipping or transfer fees to correct their mistake. I had to pay shipping and another FFL transfer just to give them the chance to fix their mistake. Other than that, it's a great lower...

This may be the first negative comment I've ever seen on any of the boards about Anvil Arms!

My experiences with them have always been top shelf!
