I have 2 AR-15s. Both are 5.56. I am already planning my next one but that is going to be an AR-10 in 308.

I`m personally expecting to hear that the Illinois parade shooter used either 5.56 or .223. I do wonder if those will be hard to come by in 6 months time, or monumentally expensive what may be available.

What do you think about the two of them?
Are you splitting hairs or is there a significant difference?

Since I only have one it's 100%., but that's not to say a 7mm valkery might not find its way to my gunsafe.

I am interested in this caliber, as well as the lesser known 7ARK(7.62x39 necked down to 7mm)
I'd get a 7.62x39 if I knew enough about the 7ARK since they share brass. It looked on paper to perform similar to 7mm-08 which is exceptional in an AR platform.

Anyone with experience, chime in/PM me.

5.56, .300 and 9mm are what I have in various lengths.
I want to have a dedicated .22LR upper as well.
Looking to find a 16" barrel and bolt for the .22LR build.
Anyone got suggestions should PM me.
Don't wanna derail the thread.

If we're counting just AR15's I'm at %100 556 (well, 223 wylde but close enough)

If we're counting AR's I'm at %33. With a AR9, AR10 and an AR15.

I enjoy shooting both of them. The 6mm has a slight advantage with better bullet selection depending on what you want to do with them. It also has a 24" bull barrel while the .25 has a 16" heavy but both are sub MOA guns with the right loads.

All of my fully assembled AR's are 5.56 or 223 Wylde. I do have three lowers that are in the process of getting built and one of those will end up being chambered in 6ARC, the other two will most likely be 223 Wylde's.

SSK chambers Contender and Encore barrels in what they call 7x39. Idk if thats the same as 7ARK or not. There is also a 30x39 which uses standard 308 bullets vs the 311 russian bullet size.

Perhaps 60% ,as I have other chamberings as well as Big Brother's AR 10 platform again in multiple chamberings .

Just finish most likely MY final AR assembly in 6.5 CM ,as I went ALL out and sourced Quality proven products . Can't tell you as yet how it functions ,STILL waiting ammo delivery as well as Dies . Decided to purchase correct headstamp ,instead of altering .308's or 22-250's for the present anyway . Also got different color ammo boxes ,for 6.5 CM specifically ,so as Not to mix similar calibers .

As some of My Platforms being interchangeable , pop pin and swap upper can lead to problems if one isn't careful .

I've been looking at dozens on news articles on this and listening to the audio of the shooting and from the vague way the media is saying it was an "AR-15 like rifle" and since the police have only said its a S&W M&P 15 but nothing else my bet is on it being in 9mm. We know the rifle found in his car was a Sub 2000, most of which are 9mm. And he had 9mm handguns. The police say they picked up 83 shell casings. 7 dead, over 3 dozen wounded. If he had hit over 40 people with a 5.56 I would think the mortality rate would be higher. But only 7 dead (RIP) seems a lot more in line with the limitations of 9mm FMJ (I am assuming it would be FMJ and not hollow point because of feeding issues and cost.)

Yet the Uvalde shooter used a pair of $2000 rifles... That just has not added up in my brain. And how does a young kid have that kind of money!

There is so much else wrong with the boondoggle surrounding that, no one in an official capacity will ever get around to even looking into that and speaking on it publicly.

:cuss:

Ill halt the "political" comments, i want to keep it civil...

Back on topic, one of the main appeals of the AR-15 to me is the amount of caliber options. I see a new one every week it seems. Especially the weird calibers. I went 6.5G, 50B, 5.56, 5.56, 7.62x39, then 6.5G.
