On a more serious note..... (re my earlier .22 TCM ponderings)

Anyone know where one might find parts for an AR-180?

Sterling as it happens. NOT A "B" MODEL. A real two railed metal lower AR-180 (boy was I disappointed in Armalite when they came out with the AR-180B)

No Gunparts/Numerich does not have what I need.

Would like to replace a bad take down pin.....sometimes called a front take down pin, but actually the only takedown pin on the -18 design. It has a captive spring loaded ball detent in the pin itself and spring and ball went bye-bye. Currently I use the rifle with an old Colt/GI spec conversion pin and collar for putting a GI spec upper and Colt Sporter lower together and while it works fine....it just ain't right.

I have had that -180 since 1977 and that has been the only problem.....that and finding affordable working magazines.

Wish I could help you. Its hard to find anything for those old 180's. I have one from Costa Mesa, and an original 40 rounder. Have considered getting rid of it a few times, but still got it. I have had varying degrees of luck cutting slots in AR mags to use them in my 180.

Thank you Gunny. I will give them a try Monday.

I two have some cut AR mags. I believe fed ord made some decent 30 rounders and thought I had some but the cats must have eaten them. I had some plastic things that may have been Ram line from the late 1970's that at that time worked in AR15s, Mini-14s, and the AR-180 and indeed all three I had did so but none were drop free and getting them in a mini was a strength building exersive Along about 2010 NONE of the three worked in ANYTHING. Same class I found that out in one of my 20s that was a cut M-16 mag just flat quit and I loaned it to a guy in the class for his AR15 and it still did not work. In a fit of disgust I removed the floor plate spring and follower and hammered the body flat and tossed everything in a burn barrel. I still have some working AR180/15 magazines but more would be better.
