Help please! Im starting my first AR build right after Christmas! I'll be ordering the stock assembly and Magpul Grip off of Midway next week. Then in early January ill be attending a Gun Show and buying the stripped lower plus parts kit there. Any helpful hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also- The only components needed for stock assembly are: buffer tube, buffer spring, buffer, end plate, lock ring, and stock? Correct??

Also- Tan or Black Furniture ??

Thanks.

Do you have the correct tools to install parts? Investing in a good set of punches and also an AR-15 tools (to install the barrel nut or delta ring and buffer tube) would be needed as well. That is if you are going to piece the rifle together yourself...

Buy everything necessary first tool-wise.

Any lowers should serve you well, as long as they are not Hesse/Blackthorne products. DPMS, S&W, Olympic, Colt, LMT, Noveske, Essential Arms, Spikes, etc are all good to go as far as I'm concerned.

Also buy a roll of electrical tape to tape up parts so they won't get scratched so much. For example, when installing or removing a muzzle break, I wrap electrical tape around it once or twice so I won't scratch it up. Taping the bottom of the barrel will help protect it in case your barrel nut wrench slips off. Just a handy little tip.

Roll pin punches and starter punches will be very helpful. Action blocks, the multi tool, and torque wrench.
I think tools will run between $100 & $150
