How's this for an idea - Magpul MOE stock, add thicker recoil pad, and use the storage compartment for additional ballast if needed. I have a couple different cheek risers kicking about I might could fit to it if needed. Added benefit, it's Magpul and not terribly spendy.

I think we're getting closer.....
Read the reviews...
I’m not hard on my rifles by any stretch, but a soft clam shell I will not abide, unless it says Kel-Tec...;)
I was not enticed, even though the Hera setup is basically what I would have envisioned.
Further experience with a thumb hole stocked AR put the whole idea away for me.
My wrist prefers a more vertical hold, right under the stock. The rest of it gets in the way.
But, man they look cool as heck!

My Luths are cut just right for my wrist.

I like the UBR for several reasons. First and foremost, rifle length fixed stocks are too long for me. At least too long to run it fast. Non-issue with any standard sporter type of rifle but on an AR, it's just too long. I have this issue with the PRS I have on one rifle. Secondly and nearly as important, it doesn't jerk the hair out of my lip like most any other M4-style buttstock does. The cheekpiece is one continuous piece from the receiver almost all the way to the butt. It also has QD swivel pockets on the side to facilitate the use of a two point tactical type sling, which the standard A2 doesn't have.

The only cons are the weight and the cost. It does make my 18" 6.5Grendel a wee bit ass-heavy.

I liked it enough to replace the CTR on my home defense rifle with the UBR.

My girl says I look funny mouth-bald...:D
I've had a goatee since before my wife and I met 12yrs ago. I shaved it one time due to a mishap with the clippers and she never looked at me the same. I think I look weird without one and getting those hairs pulled out by an AR carbine stock is like a punch in the face. It makes me wanna fight. :p

A year or so ago I assembled an AR. I wanted a plain old A2 style fixed stock. Parts availability comes and goes; at the time, there were only a couple of places that had such a thing in shippable inventory (as opposed to "listed on their web site"), and prices were notably higher than most adjustable stocks.
