AR dust cover C-clip

I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks or knows of a tool or whatever to install the tiny C clip on the pivot rod of an AR's ejection port cover more easily?

I tried to get it on myself, but could not get it to fit into the groove. My buddy tried it....and lost the clip.....

So, once I get a couple-three more clips in hand, I'd be interested if anyone has any "quick and slick" approaches for installing this little pain-in-the-butt c-clip?

Well, it's best to put the clip on the pin before you put the dust cover & barrel nut on the rifle.

Failing that, try this:
Line up the little slot on the hinge pin with the front wall of the hinge pin lug. Use the wall to slide the clip down against the pin and use a punch to push it into place. You'll hear an audible click as it engages properly.
