AR: is the rifle buffer the best?

Yup, when it doesn't "SPROING" it's time to do something corrective with the rifle. I've always thought of it as a feature like the check engine light in your car.

Im a big fan of the Vltor A5 system. Longer spring and heavier buffer slows the bolt carrier speed and gives it more mass when chambering. That makes the rifle more reliable. Outside of that, it makes the rifle shoot smoother. I currently have it on my Colt/BCM hybrid with their midlength hammer forged ELW barrel. That is a good shooting rifle.

Ive never shot it side by side against my duty gun which is a Colt 6920 on the clock. But I bet it would be a little bit faster/tighter on the follow up shots. Not that I have a hard time running my Colt like a whipped horse though.

As far as the spring noise I just tune it out.
