Though detachable and with A2 sight config., that's not really a "carry handle"

I think you're looking for something more like this.

Just search "detachable carry handle AR15" and you'll find several sources. Aim has them for sure.

It's not a carry handle as was pointed out to many members of my platoon during boot camp.

Same. Called carry handle, I never saw anyone put their hand there after our initial break in period. I ran into a squid that had his sling hooked through the hole in the bottom of the sight. I got far away from him.

Before I got issued my first M16A4, I was looking at Z type mounts that attach to an A2 style carry handle but add a top and forward sitting rail. I knew (even as a young private) that the Army was going to optics eventually and considered getting one of these for my A2 rifle.

Hahaha totally understand its not a carry hand...

after seeing the price of the RRA, I decided to go with upload_2020-6-17_23-24-24.jpeg
UTG super slim rear sight, this allows me to use an optic in case i want to use one, not a priority because im building a Mini-M4gray

I believe that was part of RRA’s EOP (Elevated Optics Platform) line, meant to fit cheaper red dot sights with low mounts back when.

For fixed* rear BUIS I really like the LaRue units. You might destroy one but the rifle probably won’t work either after that big of a hit.

My preference for AR BUIS is ones that need a tool (like a coin or cartridge) to adjust. Much less chance for them to get misadjusted that way. Plus, simplicity has at least the potential for being more rugged. If my optics down I really want my BUIS to be working.

*For folding I like the Troy sights. Either just a rear with a fixed FSB or as a set.

Just some internal military humor of a shared misery. I started with the M16A2. When I got the A4s they put on Aimpoint CompM2s with Matech BUIS. I can still hear NCOs shouting "No 'handle' to grab onto now!" Some impressions are good ones. I still use the same Matech iron sights with the A2 front sight. Between being tested at Aberdeen Proving Ground and FT Benning, they are probably the toughest sights to be made that weren't built into the rifle. The major downside is they only work with an A2 front sight, they are not available as a pair.
