I'm wondering if anyone can help me find an AR accessory I saw once, many years ago. It was a sort of thick plastic ruler that you could push into an AR15/M16 magazine to see how many rounds were loaded in the magazine without having to unload it one round at a time to count them. You'd push it down into the magazine until the follower bottomed out and you couldn't push it any further, then look at the corresponding number that was next to the magazine lips. That number would be the number of rounds in the mag. Make sense? Anyone know where these can be obtained? Some quick searching on Brownells and Midway didn't yield anything. Thanks.

Make one out of a stick maybe?

Couldn't be that hard to do.

Or, you could mark balance points/round counts on the mags with a Sharpie pin.

Just stick your finger out and balance the mag on it.
Where the mag balances is how many rounds are in it.

The balance point thing I mentioned has worked for me since U.S. Army service 40 years ago.

No need to even mark them.

If you handle M-16 mags enough, you can tell pretty close just by picking them up in the dark whether they are full, 1/2 empty, or running dry.

And thats all you really need to know for government work in the dark.

Put it in a gun and shoot it. Count how many times the gun fires and you will know how many rounds are in the mag:evil:
