AR Questions

Very new to AR platform, and would like to know if it's okay to do the following ?
(a) dry fire without a snap cap.
(b) letting the bolt carrier slam forward without having a snap cap or ammo in the chamber.

Thanks alot, just got finished making a leftie, and didn't want to screw things up. It has taken me close to 10 months to build (most of the time spent waiting on parts to arrive in Canada.

Just don't:
a) Let the hammer fall full force when the lower is separate.
b) Let the two receivers swing and bang each other when field stripping.
