So I'm AR shopping looking pretty hard at the Rock River Arms guns and see in the rack a couple of AR Bushmaster "ban" years guns ie., lug/flash surpressor for $640. I figure I could always have a flashsurpressor put on. Though there is something about the ban guns that just put me off. But $640 for a very clean 16" seems like a good deal vs. $850 plus for a new RRA. What do you all think?

I agree. I recently bought a "post-ban" Arsenal SA M-7S (AK clone) in like new condition for $399. A new one sells for $800 or more, and the only differences are that the new ("no ban") models have a bayonet lug and screw-on flash hider (mine has a pinned muzzle break). If I ever feel the need for a flash hider, I'll have the barrel threaded for one.

Agreed. If I could have found a good deal on a ban-era gun, when I was shopping, I would have snatched it up in a heartbeat. A flash hider and bayo lug isn't worth a few hundred dollars to me.

Threading a barrel costs less than the difference between a post-ban and a no-ban/pre-ban examples you gave. Bushmaster even offered to swap out the fixed telestocks with actual telestocks shortly after the sunset, no charge. I'm not sure if they (Bushy) are still offering stock swaps. More money diverted means more ammo spent :D
