Any one have an AR-style .22, whether conversion or complete rifle? My son, 12 years old, said he would rather have one of those instead of using one of my "old" rifles....Winchester lever, Marlin semi, and Browning SA. I was reading on conversion units, and then saw the Bushmaster Carbon-15 22 Rimfire rifle, and thought it was nice. Just wondered if anybody around here has first-hand experience with them.
I was leaning towards getting a complete upper in .22lr. I had read where the conversion with just a bolt and chamber liner were not accurate... .223 rifling with a .221 bullet.
Olympic Arms is offering an AR style in 7.62x39, and a complete .22lr upper. Get two rifles for ~$1200. I don't like the Bushmaster Carbon stock, so I would get an A2 lower, complete, and a .22lr upper, complete, and just because I can, an A3 upper, complete, in .223, for just over $1300. If I am going to dream, dream big. Those prices are MSRP, and after a quick browse of the auction sites, they come in less expensive than that.
