1/9 will probably shoot a wider variety of varmint weight bullets better, if that's what you are looking for.

The 1/8 would be better for very heavy Match bullets, but they ain't much good for killing Coyotes or gophers!

If you are going to be using a bipod, make sure you request that the tube is drilled.
 
I went with the 1:8 SS barrel, works great for what I shoot (55gr to 69gr bullets).
 
Heck a 40gr bullet will drop a coyote... they are not tough to kill. I think before making a hardware decision you need to figure out what you are going to do with this gun. Big difference between sitting on a bench shooting prairie dogs all day than lugging something through the woods that could also take a deer.
