AR Upper Question

Finally bought a DPMS Lower and am planning to purchace the Mod1 24" varmint kit

What do I want in rifling? 1-9 or1-8? What shoots a wider variety of weights?

1:8 will get you closer to shooting heavy bullets along with standard 55gr FMJ. I'd go 1:8.

do you have you heart sett on a dpms upper?if it was me i'd go 1:8 on a 24inch barrel

1/9 will probably shoot a wider variety of varmint weight bullets better, if that's what you are looking for.

The 1/8 would be better for very heavy Match bullets, but they ain't much good for killing Coyotes or gophers!

rcmodel i think a 68grain will do the job on a coyote just fine.and i'm pretty sure that 1:8 twist will love those 68gr.

If you are going to be using a bipod, make sure you request that the tube is drilled.

I went with the 1:8 SS barrel, works great for what I shoot (55gr to 69gr bullets).

Heck a 40gr bullet will drop a coyote... they are not tough to kill. I think before making a hardware decision you need to figure out what you are going to do with this gun. Big difference between sitting on a bench shooting prairie dogs all day than lugging something through the woods that could also take a deer.
