AR15 in .22

All the big, bulky, heavy AR-22 options and they are all still trumped by the efficiently designed, much less expensive basic 10/22.:neener:

:neener: yourself! :D

Not trumped, just different. Like having two different styles of hammers. An AR shooter will like the AR in 22LR for cheaper training (well, when you can find the ammo, if you don't have a stash :scrutiny: ), and the 10/22 for squirrels or target shooting. That's what I do, anyway. I have both (more than one 10/22; they are like rabbits...)

and the 10/22 for squirrels or target shooting.
And what's wrong with a 22 AR for squirrels or target shooting?

I bagged a swimming muskrat (nothing but his head showing) at 75 yards off hand-was using the Colt 22AR with the Trijicon SRS.

Yeah, it was a lucky shot, but I didn't let on! :D

Not a thing, especially an M&P 15-22 :)

I use it primarily for AR-15 type training, but it gets other uses as well.

I also sometimes put 25 round mags (or the 50-round drum mag) on the Ruger and use it as if it were polymer with a pistol grip :) Much like hammer cross-over...

Just talking primary uses.

I have both the 15-22 and 10-22 also, and the 10-22 hardly was used, so I sold it.

The M&P15-22 is the way to go if you want a complete AR15 style rifle that shoots 22lr. There are other options of course, and even conversion kits from CMMG, but for a basic dedicated 22lr AR, you cannot go wrong with the 15-22.

Lots if .22 options and opinions out there.

I took in a Sig 522 back when the 556 was released and Sig was offering the "free" 522 with the high dollar 556 classic.

Anyway, that 522 basically sat in the vault untouched for over a year before I decided to see how it shot.

Fast forward a few years and that little 522 has digested around 15,000 rounds of various .22 loads and is one of my favorite rifle.

I also have a DPMS .22 upper on a standard lower that is laser beam accurate at 100 yards with a quality Nikon 3x9 optic.

Additionally I have an older Cinear conversion kit in my 10.5" SBR which is a hoot to shoot.

All are quality options that offer good performance coupled with economical ammunition. More importantly, they are FUN to shoot, so they go to be range often and my kids really enjoy them too which is a huge bonus to me.

so I had to buy it

I was assisting a fellow shooter who was teaching his lady how to shoot, he did not see that she was cross eye dominant.
I took his M&P 15/22 to test prior to finding her problem,I wanted to be sure the rifle was on -- OH YEA !.
It was SO accurate that I bought one the next day, mine shoots all that I have tried, but I like the CCI AR .22's as they seem to feed and shoot VERY clean for me.
btw = the lady friend did very well after I tested her and found her cross eye problem.
The fellow shooter was grateful [ as most are ] for the help --- and it cost me the price of a new .22 :banghead:
I do own 2 10/22's and I love them dearly, and would take one in a SHTF scenario as they are better built than the S&W .22 = IMNSHO.

Just to muddy the waters a bit more...

Yesterday I brought home a Beretta ARX-160. Not as impressive as its big brother (ARX-100), but an interesting gun.

Got more optics than guns at the moment - only one way to fix that! :banghead:

I needed something a little more futuristic looking to mount the SRS optic on.

Iff'n my Bushnell Throw Down PCL ever arrives, it will probably go on my Colt 22 AR.

The ARX-100 DOES look like the "next generation" personal defense gun - many say it is what the SCAR and ACR (and others) should have been!
