AR15 Question

I also had the problem of which one to buy for my first AR, but I solved it by doing a lot of research, figuring out exactly what I wanted, and built it...well, half of it anyway. I got a Stag stripped lower, put RRA parts in it along with a plain jane M-4 adjustable stock, then put a CMMG midlength flat top upper on it. I saved a little money, learned a lot about the nuts and bolts of the platform, and got exactly what I wanted.

Is it hard to build one yourself? I saw an A1 Lower Receiver yesterday for $170 while I was searching around, so it seems that buying the parts and building it myself would be way cheap. If it's not too hard, I'd rather do that so I can learn a bit more about the rifle while I'm putting it together :)

I'm not very mechanically minded, but I was able to get it together using the same instructions that wdlsguy posted a link to without having any springs or detents ricocheing off the walls. The only hitch I had was I scratched up the reciever a tiny bit when installing the bolt catch.

I got both the Stag lower and the RRA LPK from www.eaglefirearms.net.

RBprecision used to have a beginning AR program (or something like that). You tell them what parts you want (go RRA for the trigger at least) and they send them individually bagged and tagged. They also send you two hinge detent pins and springs for when you launch the first one across the room. That was what I used when I built my first AR a few months ago.
