I didn't know they'd started doing their own AR receiver forging. I doesn't surprise me though, since they already forge the frame or receiver for at least two other very well known firearms. I guess the last few in house M&P-15 we got in with the Key Hole forge mark on the uppers were using up the last of what they'd purchased before bringing receiver production fully in house. S&W has amazing manufacturing capability.I'm not sure of that. When I took the factory tour, the guide showed us upper and lower forgings that he said were done right there in Springfield. He also had some Harley-Davidson shift forks on display that S&W apparently makes as well. Pretty cool.
