AR15s.....What is wrong with S&W if anything

I'm not sure of that. When I took the factory tour, the guide showed us upper and lower forgings that he said were done right there in Springfield. He also had some Harley-Davidson shift forks on display that S&W apparently makes as well. Pretty cool.
I didn't know they'd started doing their own AR receiver forging. I doesn't surprise me though, since they already forge the frame or receiver for at least two other very well known firearms. I guess the last few in house M&P-15 we got in with the Key Hole forge mark on the uppers were using up the last of what they'd purchased before bringing receiver production fully in house. S&W has amazing manufacturing capability.

I believe it's still made with CMT/Stag parts, maybe some LMT too. S&W doesn't make any of it, they just put it together.

Could'nt be more satisfied with my m&p. I got mine with their rebate also. Is there a date or number to tell when your rifle was made by Stag or in house?

That makes sense. Seems like S&W doesn't like making something unless they can make all of it. Based on seeing their factory firsthand, there doesn't seem to be much they can't make.

I bought a MP15A 4 months ago and it has been a great purchase! Couldn't be happier, never has jammed even using Wolf.
