This could be fun. Post anything you can think of that Archie said relating to guns, gun rights, anti commie........

I'll start out with this one:

When his daughter, Gloria, informed Archie that over 85% of all murders were committed with handguns his response was, "Would you feel better if they were pushed outta windows?"

One my favorites was Archie's editorial reply he made on TV
concerning "gun control". At a time, when highjacking a plane was
popular, Archie's solution was simple...
He said all the airlines should issue guns to all the passengers when
they came aboard the airplane. Case closed!

I loved that man.

Archie Bunker: You're supposed to be the big bug on the Constitution, right? Well the first amendment guarantees that baby the right to bear a machine gun.

Mike Stivic: The first amendment guarantees free speech.

Archie Bunker: Same thing, buddy boy. If you got a gun in your hand, you're free to make any speech you want to.

You guys do realize that the character of Archie Bunker was deliberately written as a way to characterize working class conservatives as nothing more than bloviating, moronic rubes, right?

Yes - And watching it now, Mike Stivic appears to be just as much a bloviating, moronic rube.

I personally support Archie's idea to "arm the airline passengers" to prevent skyjacking. Mike Stivic's only response is to roll his eyes and say "That's great Arch" to great canned laughter.

It's pretty amazing what a hold the anti-gun elitists had on the television in the 1960s and 70s.

Not only was it funny, but the satire has obviously bled over to the real culture. While some of his more bigoted statements may not apply, his stereotypical archetype is alive and well. It is sad when the left's biggest weapons are launched from a sit-com missile silo. It is telling about where our culture gleans the majority of it information.

Justin, I was unaware of what you posted, but it only made my sentiments more compelling. Thank you.

a great comeback to an anti.

Archie Bunker was a much milder version of the show's original British version, Alf Garnett, who was really not a nice person at all.

Alot of those who try and make fun of folks, have no clue of the asses they can make of themselves. Stuff has a way of working itself out at times :)

All in the Family ran in syndication on a TV station about a decade ago where I lived. It was introduced in flattering terms to Archie and all he had to deal with in voice-over advertisements for the show ("A radical daughter? A live in son-in law?!"). That was funny.
