Anyone know anything about these Arcus semis that seem to be showing up lately? Apparently, they're Browning Hi-Power derivatives, but I know nothing about them. Just curious, and would appreciate any info. Thanks.
The Arcus is what a BHP would be if Ruger made it. They are thick and blocky. Oversized grip does not appeal to me. If you want to shoot a cheap euro pistol, the Arcus works. They are rough and unrefined. The Arcus does work. I would prefer a FEG. I own a genuine BHP. The only good clones are the Argentinian FN machinery made P-35 clones.
I have an Arcus that was made before Century was the importer. I really like it. It shoots good and is reliable. Just expect the usual 300-500 rd breakin period though. A good gun for the money IMO.
Quote "I would have to disagree with XXXXX and recommend that you avoid the Argentines and get an FEG PJK-P9M (or Arcus) for a cheap Hi-Power clone instead."................
2ND THE MOTION...........................
Lets see.....as far as I know they are the only HP with a forged frame and slide. The grip is the SAME as any other HP if you take off the Hogue wanna be grip. Standard HP grips fit them. The fit on most Ive dealt with easily rivals the FN gun. Not the Soft steel/loose fitting made FM Argentine guns. They blockyness is a matter of taste but the rest of the gun is easily right behind or with FN's belgian made guns and IMO, better than the rest.
From what Ive shot, owned, played with and seen anyway......................
Stephen Camp will have forgotten more than I know about them......real BHP's anyway. Out of all of the clones, including the FM, the Arcus is the best of the ones Ive dealt with.
I had a FEG that had the barrel lug break off. It would have cost more then the gun was worth to replace the barrel. Bought an Arcus and really like it. I think it's a real bargain and very well made. I shoot it more then I do my BHP. Bottom pistol is my Arcus and the top is my BHP that has had the Wilson custom treatment including Wilson trijicon sites, trigger job, competion hammer, etc.
Well....there isnt a right answer to that question IMO. Both are great and a bargain!
The 75 is more refined than the Arcus and has more history/character/following.....but its a different gun.
The CZ's DA trigger action is very versatile, the gun is accurate and runs like a Timex. Its very good ergonomically etc etc etc.
The Arcus is a typical Hi Power to hold, carry and shoot. A very good quality gun with accuracy thats very good...but not up to the everyday CZ.
Its trigger is good once the Mag Brake is gone, the sights are good but not as good as the CZ's outa the box. Recoil is NOTHING and feels like a good 22 to shoot compared to other 9mm's of the same dimension and weight.
In terms of SA against SA.....the CZ surpasses the Arcus by a long shot and compares to the FN HP in most arena's and is a better outa the box competition gun IMO.
All in all.........they are worthy of great accolades from their owners, but in the end..........they are different and what you have is a very good apple and a very good orange.....................
