If I could find a good, used 3" M65 LadySmith, I'd be asking the same questions (or not since I really don't care one way or another what the weapon says on it, only how it works). I honestly think that's about the only thing that might make me give up my SP101 for CC! I just love the shrouded ejector rod along with the 3" barrel. Seems to me to be just about the perfect CC revolver.
If I were you, I'd be too embarrassed to carry a gun that says "Lady Smith" on the side. I think you should get rid of that girlie gun right now. As a matter of fact, bring to me and I'll send you home with a nice Model 36 with a combat grip and I'll keep the girlie gun here (which would immediately go into my CQC holster, and with me right out the door, proud to be carrying such a fine gun!).
I don't know why that I didn't post this pic in my reply the other day for the topic starter but here it is. I had saved the pic myself thinking about getting the 60LS. It is a pretty piece with those rosewood grips. One problem is the exposed hammer causing a problem for CCW. I would hate to bob a hammer on a new piece especially one that pretty. That's one thing that lead me to the 642 with the enclosed hammer plus the 642 is lighter.
I carry one in my man purse. Not really.
Other than some kidding from those that know, I wouldn't worry about carrying a lady smith and would prefer it to a pink colored pistol.
I talked my wife into buying a 3913LS for herself, but then she found out that the trigger was too far forward for her to reach easily. She's sticking with her Kel-Tecs for the time being. So, I'm carrying it occasionally, mostly in the summertime. That slim grip makes it really easy to conceal.
I love my S&W 65LS. Great gun. The differences are the grips, the satin stainless finish (it won't glare when it hits light so if you accidentally flash you are less likely to be discovered), and some springs are lighter so it has a better trigger pull and lighter action. I love mine and would get another if they weren't running about $200 more than when I bought mine 6 years ago.
Hell, this is AMERICA!!! You can carry anything you want anywhere you want....Well, except for New.....and Kalif.....and.....and you can't have those black th....and...
Sorry, had a moment. Forgot what country I was really in.
In the Snubbie thread I labeled this "his and hers", Ladysmith Model 60 .38 Special sharing a rug with a Magnum Carry Colt .357. The little lady does just fine, and it's not just for women.
If I were to do anything to the Ladysmith it would be a hammer bob.
This thread is nuts. Why bother with a ladysmith? Get a standard 60 and buy a pair of badger grips, or better yet, get an SP101.
Carrying a ladysmith is like driving a Miata. It really doesn't matter how you attempt to justify it, it's still emasculating. If you really want a "fun little gun" get a 642.
I recall reading that S&W did some serious research about what features/grips/dimensions women wanted in a concealable revolver and the Ladysmith was the result. I've fired one and even with pretty big hands it was comfortable and accurate. That said, I carry an SP101 DOA. Told my wife I got it as a tribute because it has her initials. We've been married long enough that she didn't believe me.
If anyone laughs at you, hit him with your purse! Seriously, don't worry about it. The beadblasted finish is actually very practical for a carry gun. And, concealed is concealed, anyway.
