I've never tried reloading but I shoot a lot of 9mm reloads that I buy from Miwall and I was thinking abut getting into reloading. I definitely want to reload for 9mm, but I'm also looking at adding 10mm or .45acp (10mm is winning at the moment). Can the Lee Pro 1000 presses that come preset for 1 caliber also be used to reload a 2nd caliber with a change in dies, etc? I have noticed a lot people say that these are great simple presses for the 1st time reloader but I have also seen people mentioning buying 2 or more, 1 for each caliber, so I wasn't sure if they were so cheap ($118) because you couldn't change the dies or something?

I would like to get one for 9mm and 10mm. If 1 of these presses can't do both calibers, what should I get? Buying a press will surely make me buy a 10mm handgun and I would also want to reload 7.62x25 Tokarev in the future too. Thanks.

Sure you can change the dies with no problem. I think most people buy multiple presses for the convenience of always being ready to load or they just found some really good deals on presses. I have a 3 hole turret for load development and a load master for volume production. If I had the room I'd have multiple load master presses also, mainly because changing the bullet feed and primer size is a minor pain on my progressive. On my lee 3 hold it takes me about 2 minutes to change calibers and 1.5 minutes of that is finding the correct shell holder, the load master takes about 10-15 minutes.

You will have to change out the dies and the shell plates and possibly the case feeds from large to small depending on what you are doing.

I've got three set-up right now and love them, but they can be alittle tempermental at times. Personally not sure if I would recomend the 1000 as a first press though. The Challenger single stage kits can be a lot easier to learn on and the good thing is they are inexpensive to buy. But to answer your question, yes they can be settup to load just about any short brass round, pistol or rifle. I have one 1000 settup to load, 38spl, 357mag, and 357max and all I have to do is change out the turret as they are loaded with pre set dies. The next one is settup to load 380's and 223's as they use the same shell plate. Same settup with the dies. The 3rd press is settup to load 45acp. it is also the one that I change the shell plate carrier and turret w/dies on to load any other bullets. The Lee Pro 1000 is a fun press to produce lots and lots of quality loads on but if it is your first press, be patient as it does have it's quirps and seems to take a few 100 rounds to 'break' it in.

i have little to add to the above. if you like to tinker and are patient, these units will serve you well. once you get them lined out and going, you can turn out plenty rounds in just a little while
