Urban?
We have four Walmarts within 25 miles of where I'm sitting.
One is up around the corner in Hayden, maybe 1.5 to 2 miles away. The next one, in Post Falls, is just over 10 miles from here. Then I cruise over almost to Cabela's at State Line to the next one at just about 16 miles, and finally I cross the state line into Washington and pick up another one at just about 24.5 miles in Spokane Valley.
This doesn't include any other Wally stores in the rest of Greater Spokane.
All four of those stores sell firearms and ammo. It's the usual selection of rifles and shotguns, with the same special-order items available through their Sporting Goods department catalogue (e.g. they don't keep the Marliin 1894C on the rack, but they'll sell you one if you order it).
There's been no sign of any reduction in stock or selection.
(Keep in mind, though, that this is North Idaho, and Wally World has to compete with more than a dozen well-stocked sporting goods stores, all of whom handle sidearms in addition to long guns.)
I don't know if any of these stores qualifies as "urban," but they're all within city limits, all fairly close to high-density housing, and all frequented by the usual Wal-Folk.
Cultural thing, I guess.
When the lady working the gun counter shoots black powder and teaches hunter safety, and the girl working the knife counter down the street complains that she had to dress her first doe of the season with a 2.5-inch Buck Rush because she forgot her big knife back at the truck, you're probably not gonna have a clash with the local culture, unless its a failure to provide a broad enough selection.
Wally Gunz. We haz dem.
