I see lower prices, but fewer guns. Is it the guys saying, "i'll wait to sell". Or just the wave passed? The high end stuff seems to still be out there, like Wilsons and Baers. But definately less plastic.

The local stores here are chock full of guns of all types, and the prices are back down to what I consider 'normal'.

It's the defense/carry ammo that hasn't returned to the shelves with any manner of regularity. I can only find 9mm defense ammo online, and nowhere else.

However, Bud's Police Supply hasn't had a single solitary M1A in well over a year now.

What's up with that?

Just left the local shop. Plenty of guns, fair selection of ammo, but no .380. Glad I don't own one.

My experience is closest to that of the OP. At least with Glocks ... not seeing much in stock around town and no depth of stock on those models they have. There is .40 ammo to fill a semi-trailer truck or two but .380 is very scarce and 9 mm spotty but still better than a couple of months ago.

But the ammo buying panic shows little, if any signs of letting up where I live.

It is almost self sustaining at this point. The more and longer it is sparse, the more people buy when it does come in, the more sparse it is, and so on and so on. Though it does seem to be easing a bit here.

prices are comming back to normal in the last 6 months, self defense ammo sky high here too, target ammo back at walmart with a little price increase but i'll take that anyday compared to what it was a yr. ago:what:

Local gunshop is loaded up with black rifles and AK's, doesnt seem to be anything moving. Gunshow was overloaded with the same guns, just tables and tables of them, prices seemed almost down to pre-obama levels. Ammo prices are down from the high, but still outrageous. I have not seen any .22 LR ammo in Wallyworld for over a year, gunshop is still scalping it, along with primers.

Yeah, my thoughts as well. Things seemed to improve a tad in the late summer of '09, but they quickly got worse in the fall. In fact, I'd say the shortage where I live right now is the worst it has ever been. I've met PLENTY of folks around where I live that are convinced that the country is going to fall apart into a massive civil war in the coming year or so, stating that they hit all the ammo sellers as soon as they open every day and buy whatever they have, up to the daily customer limit if it applies. One customer at a local GS stated he has stockpiled 25,000 - 30,000 rounds of 5.56 by buying locally in this manner, and ordering online, but he won't really feel comfortable until he hits 50,000 rounds :scrutiny:.

So I suppose that explains where a lot of it is going where I live :(. OTH, I'm not sure if I buy these stories or not though.

Wal-mart and most gun shops are completely wiped out, except for shotgun ammo. There is one dealer though way out in the boonies that a lot of people don't know about; he has a wide (if thin) selection of just about every caliber you can think of. And his prices are quite reasonable. No .380 though. :p

I called around today for a few mid-range Kimbers, and not one shop in twenty had more tha a couple of them in stock, and none of the more popular CDP,SIS, etc. I guess it's cheaper to stock the tupperware, and more affordable for the average joe. I have seen the real high end stuff move right away, but plastic just sits. Right now with folks losing their homes, I guess they aren't running out buying expensive guns.
But wealthy folks are getting bargains now on premium guns that normally would not be sold.
