Just was surfing TV and landed on Fox News. Greta Van Botox was discussing the recent Williams' sister shooting in Compton. There were two panelists who appeared to be discussing the facts (I caught it part way through), and then this wussy criminal defense lawyer was given his turn and launched into this anti-gun diatribe that said:

That Iraq was safer than America
There werem't 15,000 handguns murders in Iraq
Guns are to blame
The NRA owns Washington
We have lost a generation of the best and brightest black Americans due to guns and prisons
We in America need to wake up and say we've had enough
Etc, Etc, Ad F-ing Nauseum.

Is this guy serious?!?!?!? Because we only lost 300 men in Iraq (thus far) and lose 15,000 per year in America, Iraq is safer? (His claim, not Mine)

I am so pissed right now, I can't hardly type.

Did any other THR'ers see this crap?:fire: :fire: :fire:

Sorry pal, I woke up, and I said pass the full-caps:banghead:

The bright side is that it was on Fox so most people either won't see it or they won't believe it.

Of course Iraq whon't have many handgun killings. They understand the first rule of Middle Eastern Pistolcraft... 1. Don't bring a Handgun to a Rocket Propelled Grenade fight.

I saw a headstone* once that said "Here rests a Lawyer and a Good Man"
I didn't know you could bury two people in the same grave.

* this particular headstone actually did exist and once indicated the final repose of a well known barrister who was universally considered to be the poster child for unscrupulous conduct. Due to repeated vandalizing, a plainer, more truthful in advertising replacement was erected in it's place.
The "two people in the same grave" was meant as a JOKE. It is usually taken as that and usually beings a smile to the face of those who hear it including the many attorneys I have told it to. Of course all of the attorneys in the law firm where I worked for 3 years were a great bunch of guys (and gal) and all had a good sense of humor. This was in no way meant to impugn the integrity of those decent, hard working, fair priced lawyers which constitute the 2% that are given a bad name by the remaining 98%.
(hopefully this asterisk/caveat/distinction will satisfy Futo Inu so I won't have to screw myself)

What about
1. the widening gap between the haves and have-nots?
2. white people?

I always thought those were the roots of all evil

Skunk, just think how tactical you *could* be if The Man wasn't keeping you down. Sorry, I just saw "Undercover Brother" yesterday with the actual evil "The Man" character - lol.

Guns and crack are both part of "the plan" by "the man" to wipe out the black community.

Oh yeah, AIDS too. Did I leave anything out?

There may be a lot of black people in prison. And there might be a lot of black people killed (in many cases WITH guns not BY guns). But, personally i think its pretty damn insulting to say that THOSE are the best and brightest of an entire race. Despite what the media would have you believe there are ALL SORTS of very intelligent and succesful black people all over this country. And yet so many of them vote Democrat? go fig.

In order...

That Iraq was safer than America
There werem't 15,000 handguns murders in Iraq

Maybe because everyone there has an M-16, AK-47, RPG, or hand grenades. Kinda makes a handgun seem wimpy...:uhoh:

The NRA owns Washington

Then why hasn't the AWB & GCA '68 been repealed, already? :scrutiny:

We have lost a generation of the best and brightest black Americans due to guns and prisons

If they were so BRIGHT, how come they got CAUGHT ?

We in America need to wake up and say we've had enough

Yes. We've had enough.... OF YOU AND YOUR :cuss: -ING STUPID, LIBERAL, ANTI-CONSTITUTIONAL, PRO-SOCIALIST TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT KIND!!! :fire:

(OK, I feel better now. Continue...)

I watch a lot of Fox news. There are more pro-gun people on Fox than any other station you can watch. If you want to hear anti-gun talk watch MTV or CNN. They are the worst. Fox is usually fair and balanced. Just ask CNN about that. They all have some bad things about guns. After all not all people agree on any subject. I never watch Greta though she is from CNN and I didn't like her from the beginning.

There are a lot of people that consider themselves "sharp brains" living in La-La Land.

Incompetent, ignorant, naive.

"If the facts don't meet my opinions, too bad for the facts"

I shot the TV off. This guy proofed himself incompetent. Yes, we have enough from this sort of elitists.

That bunch of criminal defense lawyers she has on her show (Greta Von Susteren) is a waste of air. Every time they talk about a trial, like Kobe Bryant's or the Patrick Dennehy murder case, they belittle the legal systems of those states and make offensive remarks about the people in that state, be it Colorado, Texas, Alabama -- even California if it is outside of L.A. I have heard them state that Kobe can't get a fair trial in Colorado because all of the white people there are racists, and that in Texas, only black people are given the death penalty!

They obviously have no information, just biased opinions.

I guess in their world-view, unless you live in New York or L.A. there is no way to get a fair trial.

The bright side is that it was on Fox so most people either won't see it or they won't believe it.
Last I heard Fox News had beat CNN in the ratings.

Wouldn't this just all be part of their so called "Fair & Balanced" reporting?

It sounds like Fox News is being balanced by bringing on numbskulls.

So...it was the handgun (all by itself) that killed the sister of the tennis stars -- not the fact that she was parked in a nice vehicle outside a crack house at midnight in a vary bad part of town. Her death is very unfortunate, but maybe she could have PROTECTED herself by either having a pistol of her own or -- better yet -- not putting herself in a bad situation in the first place.

I think Greta Van Whoever is the worst (best?) example of the OJ-ification of the news - endless pontification by so-called "experts" about every aspect of every trial on "true crime" events that either involve a celebrity or somehow made it into a slow news day.

I personally only care:

1. That we need to be on the lookout for some idiot out there hurting people
2. When they catch the idiot murderer/rapist/crooked politician
3. What the RESULTS of the trial were
4. That the execution was successful

This information does not a daily one hour news show make. But I guess I am not the audience for this cr*p. I suppose the audience for these legal shows is all those folks who enter law school every year.

We have lost a generation of the best and brightest black Americans due to guns and prisons
Funny . . . I never thought of gang bangers and prison inmates as representing the best and brightest of ANY group, regardless of color. The guest on Fox who said this seems to hold blacks in rather low regard . . . IMHO his racism is showing.

Fox News

The guy on the news was Jeffery Fieger, ran for Michigan gov. a few years back. His biggest claim to fame was defending [Doctor death] Kevorkian.
We would sure like to get someone to take him off our hands. He would fit in well in Hollywood. Rabid liberal for sure.

Hmmmm, I don't remember there being a damn war and occupation in America within since March. And I don't remember there being mass executions and torture chambers here in the ole US of A. If these liberal jerks think Iraq is so great why don't they move there? (waste of American oxygen and space IMO) :cuss: :banghead:

Of course, what that blowhard moron failed to mention about all those black deaths were how many of those murders were perpetrated by other blacks.

That always fails to get mentioned whenever this "blacks are disproportionally in prison" type of thing comes up. If the didn't do the crime, maytbe they wouldn't be in prison!

It's like arguing with a black slavery reperations proponent. Facts just sail over their heads without notice.

Thankfully, most people don't pay much if any attention to what they read on Faux News...

BluesBear, you're being completely disingenous now, because it clearly was NOT meant as a joke, as evidenced by the fact that it was preceded by a setup denigrating lawyers (without exception), and the fact that you have now edit to delete said setup proves that you know that it was not a joke and have a guilty mind and want to cover it up. If it would have been said as a joke, which it clearly was not, then it would have been funny. Note the conspicuous absence of any smiley or other indication that it was a joke. Methinks you lie.
