"But it sucks that practically no new semi auto rifles have been developed with traditional stocks for about, what?, 10-15 yrs?"
Why in Sam Hill would you make a straight stock if not using wood? That was the whole reason pistol grips weren't an option in the first place, remember?
I suppose if wood stocks come back into vogue, we'll see a resurgence...like we did during the Assault Weapons ban, which ended precisely 10-15 years ago
Yeah, baby, gimme some more of
that!
"I find it odd that they chose a low profile gas block and no real option for a front sight on that SCR"
I strongly suspect it is because the triangular raised sight base of the M16 is one of the most iconic features that makes it identifiable (read: scary) to ban-state politicians. Nothing sticks up in a scary manner on a Fudd gun, so neither does anything on the SCR (not even a forward-assist or deflector; I'm surprised they even kept the dust cover). It's really comical to realize that the amount of protuberance of a given feature s directly proportionate to its hatred by the anti's (large magazines, pistol grips, bayonets, meanwhile O/U shotguns are golden) --they literally hate the particular guns they do because they are able to recognize them.
