I traded for this rifle about four years ago when I was un-employed and going to school. She's basically a metric upper (FMAP Argentine) with a British L1A1 parts kit to make the rifle (All Fazakerly 1950's dated).
I've slightly customized her since I took possession.
I installed a DSA extreme scope base, DSA steel charging handle, TAPCO T48 handgaurd. For the moment she sports a Millett DMS-1 scope, I'm looking for a more suitable scope, but the budget dictates the DMS until I get some more debt paid off. The cheek piece came from a Plaster Super Sniper stock I've since parted ways with. The 90MPH tape holds it secure as I dont want to ruin the British stock. Lastly, I have a slightly longer than standard Turner Saddlery 1907 sling on her. Oh, and I've saved all Brit parts I took off and repllaced, lol.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Thought it looked familiar. Can't remember if you were shooting or not, but if so, how'd it treat you?

Absolute garbage on my end. Serves me right for not taking the time to reacquaint myself with my G22 after its long repair hiatus, though.

More on topic, I've been bandying about getting a FAL. I had the chance to blast away with one on a range in Afghanistan at the beginning of last year during some shenanigans, and my interest was piqued since then. Just never got around to it.

ETA: FYI, I was the guy in the Scan Eagle hat, standing around the office/shop door afterwards.

Its threads like this that make me want a FAL. At the 3 gun match I went to in Troutman, NC there was a guy shooting one. He had a habit of knocking down the steel targets that our AR's just made go *ping*.

I guess I did alright, the match results kinda left some to be desired from the way they were put onto the spread sheet.
I shot my work issue Glock 22 in stages 5 and 6 and my 4 digit Springfield Garand in 7.62mm for the rest. Stage 4 was real eye opener doing all that work from the prone.
Next CQB I'll have this one sighted in and be using it.

Last year, I offered to help with something, anything, and my offer was declined. So only the standard post-match teardown for me, I guess.

That stage sucked. (Especially for me, considering my score...)

Straight USPSA match next week. Maybe I'll shoot single stack.

I agree with you on the FAL, since I got this one, I've been hankering for a DSA Imbel rifle, or a metric pattern built on an Imbel receiver.
I kinda wish the FAL bug had bitten ALOT sooner, but it is what it is.
