Any of you Arizonans shop at these establishments regularly? They seem to be a bit high-priced (at least in the Phoenix area), and I've heard some say that they're struggling.

I shop at the local store here on Pima from time to time.

Most of the time its for ammo or accessories. The guns they have are too high priced for me. Find better prices two doors over at West of Pecos.

They do have a gunsmith here and I would use them if I had a problem.

But yea, I noticed the prices there are pretty high.

I used to go there a lot but haven't lately. Whenever they have a Sale prices are pretty good. Used to go there to buy Ammo a lot. They also carry reloading supplies. I usually don't leave there empty handed - If I dig long enough I always find something. Also have a good selection of fishing supply, but I have never bought a gun there. I generally like the store, but what bothers me a lot, is that whenever I'm looking for something specific - they always have just run out of it. Come back 2 weeks later - same thing.
My experiences are mainly with the Bell Rd/Cave Creek store.

Gun prices are pretty high but some of their sales are good.I spent 2.5 years at the store on 7th ave and camelback in the mid 90's.The prices were decent and we would order just about anything but it seems like when the owner started to open up other locations the prices started to go up.

I bought a 750.00 revolver there once that wouldn't go BANG. Was told I needed to take it to a gunsmith. Haven't been back, won't either.

Just got back from there.

Prices are still up on all firearms. Even the consignments.

Did buy a choke for my Winchester. Paid $22.95 for it. Bout 3 dollars more than what Murphys wanted for the Skeet choke for the same gun. Problem was, I wanted an IC not a Skeet. Bummer

Also found a decent deal on shotshells for $2.99 a box.

I bought a Winchester 1300 there once, and I browse the Camelback store occasionally since I work right down the street.

My pref. is "Legendary Guns" on 19th ave and Colter.

I go to the 7th ave and camelback sometimes, more and more i go to the sportsmans warehouse, as my boys say it's the costco of gun shops:)

FWIW I've been seeing a few of their old time employees working in other shops lately. These are people who had been working there for some time. The ones I've talked to say that things were changing at 'AZ Sportsman', and not for the better. The counter people I've encountered there lately do not appear to be near as knowledgeable and seem to want to push only one or two brands of gun. Maybe it's whatever manufacturer cuts them the best deals that month. It does sound like they're hurting right now.

I still try to go in there every now and then. The sale prices are comparable to what I can get regularly at Scottsdale Gun Center, but their regular prices are out of line IMHO.

I'll second the comments on Sportsmans Warehouse. Their selection is great and their prices, while not terrific, are quite fair. It' a fun place to shop.

High prices but okay to look around every now and again. Especially if I don't want any customer service, if I want something, I have to start jumping around waving my hands. At least at the Pima one. :scrutiny:

I like the people at the West store.

Oh and as a note, I asked them why I can't get the price listed on the Arizona Sportsman website, since they are both Arizona Sportsman stores, and they said they are a seperate entity. Not tied directly to the Phoenix place, they just share the same name. Huh?

Well unless the owner has sold the tucson stores in the last few years they're all the same. The owner did sell the 28th ave and indian school location (old shooters world) here in phoenix in the last year and a half. It's possible he sold the tucson stores.
