It's too bad that the 9mm single stack has a bull barrel, as this makes it illegal for IDPA. I was just looking for a 1911 single stack for my son to start IDPA with, and thought I'd found the ticket.

I was even willing to run the first 2K rounds thru it to get it broken in right :) Then saw the specs on the bbl.

I'm guessing the switch to a bushing would be too much trouble/$$$ to be worthwhile for me.

Well my search will continue. I'll let him use my hipower for a while, might even get his own. My HP was a gift. It also started me into competitive shooting, but after a year and 5K+ rounds, I decided I didn't want to continue the heavy use for it's sake (no problems, just a preventative decision).

Besides, of all my pistols he liked my 1911 for "best feel", so I'm going to keep looking for something that won't break the bank. Missed a couple of deals on 9mm 1911's when I first started looking, but I'm just going to keep my radar up. Couple of competitors got rid of their's for ~650. Came with 5 or 6 mags, set up with nice sights. Would have been perfect :(

It's my fault, I should have started him a week sooner.

Hmmm, that's a good point ...

and I might end up going that way. I'll need to check that the bbl isn't in bull config.

Also have heard that Taurus is going to do a decent priced 1911, 9mm due out ???

But, IMO, Armscor missed the boat as the 1911 9mm is a favorite IDPA gun ...
