I spotted an ad on Armslist/Connecticut a few days ago for 7000 CCI #400 SRP for $580. Red Flag because of being way too cheap but I only do FTF with Armslist anyway so I texted the seller anyway. He asked where I'm located I told him and he aswered "that's far" (second flag) He told me where he's located which didn't match the area code of his phone. By now I'm convinced it's a scam but let it play out. I told him I'd drive down to meet him but he said he works all the time but said he'd ship. When I told him I only do FTF on AL the texts stopped. I figured the photo came from GB and sure enough it was identical. As desperate as some are now for primers I bet these POS scammers find some victims. BTW, I did flag the ad.

Interesting, I was just talking to a buddy of mine last night who ordered 5000 primers from a vendor online (not sure which site) and now the vendor has gone dark on him and has NOT shipped either. Similar ad, but vendor was in MN.

I remember years ago I found a '48 CJ2A for way too cheap on ebay. It had all the warning signs but I was young and wanted it to be true so badly, I was actually driving to western union before I came to my senses. IIRC, there was a few nasty emails when I started asking for more proof. Ahh, its all kinda a blur-
Point is, as Stonebuster said, its easy to get strung along when you are desperate for something. .

I “bought” a Craftsman rolling tool cart in early November that I wanted to use as a cleaning/gun repair bench in my garage. Bought it online, paid through PayPal, the money went to some business with a name written in all Chinese.

It was not shipped by mid-December so I opened up a fraud complaint with PayPal. The seller sent PayPal some bogus USPS tracking number that showed “ delivered” on Dec 5. The sellers e mail was some name in “yeah.com”. A Google of yeah.com shows people complaining constantly of scams out of China using this provider.

I went to post office, tracking number was for a 13 ounce item delivered to some other address, not a 80 pound tool cart. Got the print out from the Postmaster, sent it to PayPal and hounded them for three weeks until I got the money refunded.

I ended up buying a Husky with a hardwood top and extra casters so all four wheels can swivel. It was a bit pricy, but it works great.

Stay on top of internet orders and be skeptical unless you know the seller.

Stay safe.

I hope karma comes and slaps the breaks off the ajole. I have actually been very fortunate. The knife/balisong world is rife with scammers because alot of knife drops are sudden and without notice and at weird times like 3am and since demand always exceeds supply with some makers, the scammers come out in full force.

I have done quite a few transactions online, I always ended up dealing with honorable people. Alot of times scammers give themselves away, their communication can just be sketchy. Not always though, If they insist on PayPal F&F beware.

I bought a magazine on AL. It was for $35, they wanted a money order. I told them I would take a chance & send a check. They could wait for it to clear. 4 days later I got it. Some people on AL are decent, but "buyer beware".

There’s currently listing here for $200/1000. Don’t know if he has any takers, but that’s the asking price.

Clearly I hadn't been paying attention. It's been awhile since I bought, didn't expect they'd take a 500%+ jump in price. Glad I still have 15K or so to work with for the time being.

Likely about 1/2 the people in the US wake up every morning trying to figure out how to screw the remaining half out of what they have.

81 million if you believe the election results. But I digress.

It's free market economics. I don't like it either, but there was a lot of time to stock up since the last banic. There's always one on the horizon; it's cyclical. People who wait until the situation is dire are the proverbial grasshopper in the Aesop fable. Now is not the time to decide you need more supplies or want to get into reloading. The only people I really have empathy for are the ones who just came of age and couldn't buy guns & ammo before now.

I get all kinds of Armslist buyers thinking they're going to trade me ammo for guns at current market pricing. I have to burst their bubble and tell them I had the sense to get it while the gettin' was good, so their 5.56 ball ammo trading fodder is worth $0.30/rd to me, not $1/rd. To get $1/rd, sell to someone else and get back to me when you have cash.

There's a total new world man on the broker with a starting bid of $479 for 2000 CCI450s...

I'm making a list
I'm checking it twice
Soon I'll share the list of who's gouging the price.....

Four Niner Ones gonna shut your hinnie down......

I’ll confess to a little bit of bad estimation. I didn’t account for how many SRP I would burn thru experimenting with cast subsonic 300 Blackout. I wish I had an extra 10K just for a buffer. It turns out I have a ton of large pistol primers, so I think I’m going to be shooting more 45 auto and 458 SOCOM over the next year.

Or do what I'm doing and swap what you have for what you need one-for-one. They all really have the same market value, and many people are flush on one type, lean on another. I had way more small pistol than I needed, and not as many large rifle as I like to have, so I posted on Armslist and made deals to swap 3K small pistol for 3K large rifle within a couple hours. Out nothing but some drive time & fuel.

Just make sure you're getting what you're supposed to. I heard of a primers-for-powder swap, dude shook the carton, shook hands and went home, only to find that he had got 1,000 spent primers.

I put in the ad that DL information would have to be exchanged along with items to make sure I didn't get contacted by that type of unscrupulous horse trader who thinks they'll get one over on me. Scammers aren't likely to do their thing with someone local who has their full legal name, DOB and physical address.

You consider $82/1,000 for primers cheap?

I have never paid more than $38/1,000.
By today's standards, yes. You can double your money and sell me some.:) I knew from your post you hadn't shopped lately. The sad part is prices are still rising. EDIT: Just saw a GB auction for 1000 CCI SPP/ winning bid of $326+shipping

I went to gunshow in Miami a few weeks ago and a guy was selling SPP's for $35 a HUNDRED and it was the last pack he had, he sold several thou.

Lessons learned I hope. When / if this nutso situation passes think and buy ahead.

It's NOT hoarding if you're planning and buying at sensible prices. Only those who did not plan and have zero call planners hoarders.

I don't trust anything about Armslist. I actually found my own pistol for sale on their site.

This is my Sig 1911 Stainless Carry. I took this picture on my new deck. I posted the picture to a Sig Sauer forum and then later I found the pistol for sale on Armslist. Someone even put an Armslist logo on my photo.
