Well I see you all have built a wealth of information here, thank you. I think Ill be going with a stamped mod and was really looking into the slr-cr but I'm having issues with the stock folding to the left as I plan on mounting an optic and I believe you will have to take the optic on/off when folding the stock. I hear the finish on the Arsenals are not the best and a gunkote may be in order, who does good gunkote work at a fair price?

Ahhhh I dont know what the hell I'm going to get yet. I keep finding myself looking at the Polish Lancaster UFs on Atlantic's site.

PERKK your ak looks great, I tried to find that mod on their site but could not find same, was it a custom request? Also may I be so bold as to ask how much the gun was otd?

Bought my SLR-95 last month for $590 and its in mint condition, didn't look like it had ever been used when I bought it and it came with the original box, all accessories and matching manual with quality certificate. I replaced the furniture and a couple other parts to make it 922r compliant but its still mostly Bulgarian and a great shooter!

Anyway to answer your question more precisely, I would say that yes Arsenal AK's are worth every penny, whether its Bulgarian made or US made. Yes new ones are expensive, but this is one of those cases where you get what you pay for and what you get is very good.

OK had to throw in one more pic of my baby....

That is correct. The stock can't get folded far enough to lock with the optics mounted on the rail.

I have an Arsenal SLR-106fr with the PK-ASV optic. I like the combination quite a bit. The fit and finish of the Arsenal AK is head and shoulders above any other AK I've owned or shot (early Romanian Ratmil Cugirs, MAK-90, recent Romanian AKs).

I have the same model as The Grim Reaper -- an Arsenal SA M-7S (milled receiver, side rail, fixed stock). I bought it 2005 for $399. It was officially a used firearm, but you sure couldn't tell. I don't think it had ever been fired. It's one of the best purchases I ever made. Here it is sporting a Kobra optic and resting with some of my other evil black rifles:

Lancaster

I have handled several Lancaster guns and they are a hit or miss affair. the earlier posts sure sounded like a commercial for these guns. It would not surprise me in the least if this person was a plant... I could be wrong...

I have shot these guns and 1 was ok, the other 2 were prone to failures. None shot all that well as to accuracy. The guys who owned them were not that impressed. Just my $.02 from what I saw and heard when we took them out.

Another option is the CZ VZ-58. It is NOT an AK, but it does share a similar look, especially the curved mag. It's chambered in x39 and has a milled receiver.

Well let me ask this, is there a way I could put a triangle stock that folds to the right on the 107-CR (similar to the one Father Knows Best has)? If this can be done than you should be able to fold the gun with the optic on. Ir appears as if you can still fire the gun with the stock folded to the right. Why did Arsenal make the stock fold to the left?

The folding stock is not supposed to be folded in combat. It exists to make the rifle a smaller package for transport (either on a truck, a ship or a parachute). As soon as the soldier is deployed, the stock is extended and optics are mounted. Having it fold over the optics is not an issue.

Because thats how current military AKs are made.
