Loaded the van for some range time at 8:30 this am. Three rifles and Ammo for each. Picked up my granddaughter on the way. She came out of the house toting two bags. “Dad gave me some guns to bring” she said.
At the range I set up for the rifles and while she was shooting I looked at what she had brought. Four hand guns and ammo for each.
Thought to my self, if we were stopped by a LEO what he would think of our “Arsenal”.
We were covered by Rhode Island law as to transport, to and from our residents to a lawful place. Guess I should check to see if there is a gun limit:what:

I am glad that I have never worried about stuff like this

It's a pity that New Englanders left tyranny and oppression,.....only to embrace it generations later

As gun owners, we need to teach those without firearms experience to understand that there is nothing wrong with firearms.

Well I guess if I lived in Rhode Island I would see what laws apply including any local laws. I am in Ohio where there is no limit and state law is it, state laws trump any local nonsense. Local towns were trying to enact nonsense laws so the state intervened and made things simple. Again if I lived anywhere else I would make it a point to see which state laws apply and if any local laws apply.

In a van?
I'd guess around 1500 lbs is about the limit. If a mini van, I'd guess about 700 lbs max.

ETA: I'm chomping at the bit to take my new-ish granddaughter and soon to be grandson (God willing). I'm quite found of the memories when I took my daughter.

The Talking Heads song “Life during wartime” started playing in my head as I was reading this...

I do know that when I moved houses many years ago a Scion Xb can hold an awful lot of firearms. ;)

Hopefully this is just the first of many trips with her. :)

Stay safe.

Been taking her since she was about 10 years old. Now at soon to be 19 I’m in competition with boy friend, work and college.
Set up the Bullseye camera and had her down load the app to her own phone, I could also follow her shot placement on my own phone. LOL her phone had a steady stream of incoming texts.

Back when the CMP had the Western Games/Creedmoor Cup in California, I packed up my jeep with my A2 service rifle, M1, 1903 Springfield, K31 Swiss, and 1911 Service Pistol, and about 500 rounds of ammunition. Being from Arizona, it didn't even occur to me that in some other state, this might be frowned up, until I got pulled over in a small town for a rolling stop. It was then I realized I was about to be on a domestic terrorist list.

The cop looked into the rear of the Jeep, and quickly asked "you Distinguished yet?" What are the odds? He knew exactly what I was up to, and exactly where I was going. He let me off with a stern warning and a wink.

Yeah
I hear that term used on the "news" when
they "recover " an "arsenal " of "wheppons"
( usually 4 to 6 guns) for whatever reason.

The other day they had a story and the
"arsenal " they showed was like 7 old
plain jane shotguns and hunting rifles and
(GASP!) around 1000 rounds of ammo
“Oh the humanities!” :what:

LOL.

I recall the day that that idiot shot at the concert goers in Las Vegas. That week I was staying in a hotel at a conference and there was a Big 5 literally across the street. I bought eight bricks (4,000) Aquila .22 rounds on sale and put them in my luggage up in my room. (I had carpooled and another guy drove.)

The next day at breakfast one of the guys who works for me was making a big deal, commenting on the guns and ammo that idiot had. He was basically saying how did the hotel let it all get in there, they’re to blame for letting it happen, etc.

I stabbed a piece of sausage, casually smiled, looked sideways at him and said I have 4K rounds in my room right now, I carried it in last night a shopping bag... and ate the sausage piece.

I wish I had a camera to record his face... priceless.

People are funny!

I remember when my youngest daughter was several years younger and we walked by the sporting goods section at Walmart:

Daugher: Daddy, we need to get some .22 LR for my rifle.

Me: OK. How much do we need to get?

Daughter: I don't know. Maybe a 333 round box?

Me: So, you're saying the 12,000 rounds or so I have at the house isn't enough?

Daughter: *stares* You have 12,000 rounds of .22 at home?

Me: Or so. You think we need another box or two?

Daughter: *shifts to straight face* Yep. You can never have too much ammunition.

Me: *to self* That's my girl!

Damn, like my baby sister and her baby tokarev. I'll tell her I'm going out and about, and she'll tag along in case we go to a place with ammo, so she can stock up on .32 ACP. I've created a mini me.

Kids are funny as heck! When I got my Colt SAA, my oldest daughter wanted to shoot it right away. She was 15 at the time.

So I take her to the range, we set up a zombie target downrange, and I go through the sight picture for the gun and how it works.

She loads up, takes up her shooting stance aaaaaaand...puts her first round RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES.

I look at her, not saying a word.

She looks back at me and, smooth as can be, says "It's a zombie target, Daddy. It's gotta be a head shot."

Then puts 5 more rounds through the face.

:p
