A man who pulled a samurai-style sword during an altercation in a Northeast Heights parking lot Monday night is in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

A woman who had just bought hamburgers from a fast-food restaurant at the shopping center at Candelaria and Eubank at about 8:30 Monday evening told Eyewitness News 4 that her departure was blocked when three men began arguing in front of her.

She says one man, who was wheeling groceries to his car, was confronted by two men who emerged from a pickup truck. She said after the two men turned to leave, the man with the groceries opened up his car trunk, pulled out a samurai-style sword, and turned toward the other men.

One of the men from the pickup, according to the witness, then calmly pulled a revolver from his pants and shot the sword wielding man, who fell to the ground, but managed to pull himself up and make his way to the grocery store for help, leaving his sword in the parking lot.

The woman says that she backed up her car to allow the men in the pickup room to drive away and they sped westbound on Candelaria.

Police describe the suspects in the shooting as two Hispanic men driving a blue-green, early to mid-1990s F-150 Ford pickup.

Officials say that the shooting victim was hit multiple times in the stomach and was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

The name of the shooting victim was not available as of early Tuesday morning.

END

This is clearly a self-defence issue. However, there are only a small number of reasons, none of which are legal, for the shooters to have left the scene and not made contact to the police immediatly.

These articles always refer to local places the rest of us may not be familiar with.

Where is Northeast Heights?

first name 'Donnie', was heard being told to 'shut the **** up'.

:D

Strange no mention in the police report about a bowling ball... or the piece of ear that was found
