Their money willingly spent - so they did not pay too much; it seemed fair to them.

Have you ever seen someones eyes sparkle when they have a new toy. Even if they paid 10,000% more than you could have gotten the same thing for I would be hesitant to say anything and watch the sparkle die. Impulse buying is something we all are afflicted with at times.

I totally agree if someone does a little research and reads or talks to friends who actually know from whence they speak that is the best way of doing things. Unfortunately Mr. Impulse is strong in the way of the force.

Yahoo.. back on topic. We seem to be getting some productive ideas here now.

The reason the shooter didn't ask questions is because she has a habit of trying to prove her independence. ****Yes the shooter is a SHE and I wanted to lay off that because that might open a whole different can of worms than we already did. This board and shooters in general can be sketchy about women sometimes.****

Anyway at this point I think probably a really thick recoil pad might be a good idea. Also I am really partial to a double bead on the barrel so we may see about drilling it for that, it helped me a ton when I was starting to always get my sight on the vertical level.

As I've said I'm kinda partial to porting & coning but a port job on an 18" is a little scary to me because you already have a barrel that's cutting muzzle velocity due to length and then on top of that we are going to vent gas and maybe lose some more. Maybe it'll get the cone lengthened and go from there.

Anyway thanks for coming back around and being productive. The last poster is 1000% right about the new toy aspect.

Gotta tell you Bigaxie, I think the lady did a pretty good job. She got herself a nice new lady sized shotgun, a set of choke tubes, and some cheap shells to break it in with for 400 bucks. If any thing goes wrong she has a dealer to go back to who appears to understand her needs better than her friends. Maybe what she doesn't need is you.

As soon as I read the OP the liberal use of "they" vice "he" or "she" made that patently obvious. I'm sure others noted as well.

That said, the gender of the buyer is irrelevant...and IMHO, this board is exceptionally non-judgemental with regard to gender, race, age or anything else.

Men and women of any age, race, etc., can be pig-headed, and each can waste their money as they wish.

If a shooter is mature and objective, he/she will either work to gain proficiecy with the chosen weapon or find something more suitable.

Cheap shells? Steel Shot? Not in Michigan sir. Last time I checked $7 a box was more than $5.50 a box. True Story.

Lady sized? It's too small for her to properly mount. When your shooting arm is bent back to an angle below 45 degrees there's a serious LOP issue (her arm was almost folded back completely). Bending your head sideways (cocking the head like a puppy) to get it down because there's no space to go forward on the stock also indicates a LOP issue.

So I ask you... what is a lady sized gun? Are you saying my older sister (+6') needs a youth gun because she's female? Let me guess... it should be pink to?

Oh and on the dealer thing, if the dealer understood her needs then she would have been shown proper stance and positioning. This didn't happen because I watched her lift it the first time at the range, feet together and standing slightly back. An instruction to turn sideways, spread the feet, and lean forward was met with something on the order of "Well that would've been useful when I was buying this thing."

Yeah I get offended when people who weren't there come in here and question everything making judgements based on information they don't have.

It's difficult to be an insufferable know-it-all when you people just don't recognize your greatness despite how fervently you insist on it.

Since you're the one with all the information, you're the only one to blame when the forum doesn't have the information you're withholding. Perhaps if you'd actually started out this thread with the full story instead of "Look at how dumb my friend is by she didn't ask me what to buy!" Not very High Road.

If someone else sees value in this thread remaining open, feel free to PM me.
